Brown needed stitches after hit by a car

BRISBANE Lions captain Jonathan Brown's horror run with injuries has continued after being knocked off his bike by a car while on a training run on the Gold Coast yesterday.

Brown escaped serious injury but still had attend Gold Coast Hospital, where he had 10 stitches in a wound on his elbow following the crash.

The 30-year-old then contacted Lions officials to notify them he was okay.

Brown was riding with a group of about 20 cyclists in the Currumbin Valley when the accident happened.

The three-time Premiership player has had a terrible run with injuries.

In round one, 2011, Brown copped an accidental knee from Fremantle defender Luke McPharlin and had to have surgery for a broken jaw and cheekbone.

Then in round 17 the same year he collided with Geelong's Harry Taylor and then teammate Mitch Clark in a marking contest.

Finally to round off the bad run, teammate Matt Maguire accidentally kneed his captain while attempting to spoil during pre-season training in February. He sustained a fractured left cheekbone.
