Drivers escape serious injury in head-on highway crash

SATURDAY, NOON: The drivers involved in Friday evening's two-vehicle crash escaped serious injury.

The crash occurred about 5km north of Tiaro about 6.22pm and the Bruce Highway remained closed for about an hour.

Police said a 19-year-old Windermere woman (previously reported to be 20-years-old) was driving her blue Holden Barina on the Bruce Highway.

A witness reported they had concerns about the woman's driving after the vehicle drifted slightly off the road.

It is understood her Barina then cut across the centre line and collided with a Kia Sorento driven by a 50-year-old man from Thabeban.

The woman was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition to treat "bruises and lacerations".

The man was treated at the scene.

FRIDAY, 7.40PM: The Bruce Highway has reopened after a two-vehicle crash on Friday evening.

A 20-year-old woman was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
