Scott welcomes Federal Election announcement

MEMBER for Maranoa Bruce Scott has welcomed Prime Minister Julia Gillard's announcement the next Federal Election will be held on Saturday, September 14.

"A Coalition government will deliver more jobs, higher wages and better services for the agricultural community as well as increasing productivity while reducing costs, particularly those associated with Labor's carbon tax," Mr Scott said.

"We have a plan to get government spending under control and ensure spending is focused on projects, which benefit the nation."

Mr Scott said ensuring government spending benefited the nation could be achieved with a "tax system that rewards hard work, not one that unfairly penalises those who work hard".

"A world-class education system, secure borders, better regional health services, a compassionate welfare system that expects personal responsibility, a strong future for our farmers and other primary industries, vibrant small business, a sustainable population, a better environment and quality telecommunications at a price people can afford," Mr Scott said.

"This is the plan that will provide hope to Australians from all walks of life."
