Bullets out to defeat the champs

BASKETBALL: The Brisbane Bullets begin their National Basketball League campaign tonight when they head to Perth to take on the defending champions Wildcats.

The game tips off at the Perth Arena at 8.30pm (AEST).

In positive news for the Bullets, Shaun Bruce and Tom Jervis are expected to suit up after battling injury during the pre-season.

After import Jermaine Beal was cut in the concluding stages of last season and Torrey Craig was picked up by the Denver Nuggets in the NBA, the Bullets welcome three new imports to their roster.

Stephen Holt makes a return to the league after averaging 15.5 points, 3.6rebounds and 3.6 assists for Melbourne United in the 2015-16 season.

Travis Trice played with Queensland rivals Cairns last season, where the 24-year-old was very impressive, picking up the team MVP award and guiding the side to a surprise finals appearance.

Perrin Buford makes his league debut after averaging 16.8 points and 7.6 rebounds in Italy last season.
