Bulls have backs to wall against visiting Redbacks

QUEENSLAND'S quest to make a third-straight Sheffield Shield final suffered a massive blow at the Gabba yesterday.

Late on day two of the clash against South Australia, the hosts were bowled out for just 135 in reply to the Redbacks' 403 all out.

The visitors were 0-22 in their second innings at stumps - 290 runs in front.

The Bulls suffered without injured Australian Twenty20 rep Chris Lynn, with his replacement, Nick Stevens, 19, scoring a six-ball duck.

Redbacks quicks Chadd Sayers (pictured, 3-40) and Joe Mennie (3-31) were the chief destroyers, taking four of the first five Bulls wickets, as the hosts slumped to 5-39.

NEW South Wales easily passed Victoria's first-innings score of 218, declaring at 9-452.

Peter Nevill (100 not out) and Scott Henry (92) top scored in the SCG clash.

The Bushrangers were in all sorts of trouble at 3-0 in reply at stumps.
