Starting own business wasn't all happy snaps for new mum
STARTING her own business wasn't all happy snaps for new photographer Amy Zara Vass who is owner of local business Zara Lane Photography.
Amy started her photography business in 2011 after the birth of her daughter.
Amy said she had always loved photography ever since she was a little girl.
"My granddad got me into photography from a young age," she said. "I had always wanted to do it but never followed through until the birth of my daughter."
Amy said she had previously worked in Queensland Rail for five years before venturing into the photography industry.
"I realised that having my own business was something I really wanted to do," she said.
"It's taken a lot of time and effort but it was all worth it now that my business is up and running.
"Being a mother to a young child and having the motivation to run your own business can be tricky at times but I believe in never giving up on what you want so I try to balance my time as much as possible."
Amy said she made many mistakes that she learnt from then when starting her business.
"There are many challenges and obstacles you overcome when starting your own business," she said.
"I learnt very quickly to not doubt myself and my success as everything will fall into place if you let it. I definitely couldn't have done without the support of my family and friends though."
Amy admits she had a slow start but said social media really helped.
"I made a business page for Zara Lane Photography," she said.
"It started mostly by word of mouth but now I get a lot of clients contacting me through Facebook which is great."
Zara Lane Photography does a range of photos including: weddings, couples, glamour, families, children, newborn lifestyle, lifestyle, birthing, graduations, special events and boudoir.
