Business to get an overview of airport
IT WILL mean big things for our city and tomorrow, the man behind the new
Wellcamp Airport will outline the potential benefits the development will bring to Southern Downs businesses.
Southern Downs Regional Council has invited John Wagner to deliver a presentation at a special breakfast tomorrow morning.
And with the event just a day away, now is the time to book your seat.
The Wellcamp Airport has been approved by the Toowoomba Regional Council and is expected to be operational in the second half of 2014.
The airport is jet capable and will be available for regular passenger services, charter flights, fly-in fly-out services and airfreight services.
SDRC planning and development manager Cecil Barnard said the council's economic development unit had asked Mr Wagner to give an overview of the airport plans and functions.
"Mr Wagner will talk about the Wellcamp Airport and business park development currently under way and the opportunities this may afford businesses in the Southern Downs region," he said.
"The development of the Wellcamp Airport is also likely to open up market access opportunities and for this reason we would urge businesses that may have an interest in developing regional export capacity to also attend.
"The EDU will be establishing an export network group following the presentation to provide support and assistance.
"We want to maximise any business ideas that are evolving and given we have this golden opportunity with Wagner's we encourage locals to be involved.
Mr Barnard said the event would be a great opportunity to network with like-minded business people and those who have an interest in the development of the Southern Downs.
The breakfast presentation will be held from 7am at the Warwick Golf Club.
