Insight into reach of social media

IF you do not exist online, to many people, you don't exist at all.

As social media platforms continue to suck users into their addictive world, more Rockhampton businesses are cluing on to the simple fact traditional advertising only reaches a portion of their target audience.

About 79% of the Rockhampton population use broadband at home, the highest percentage on the east coast of Queensland, according to the Roy Morgan Single Source Australia.

Last week 20 business clients of The Morning Bulletin and the Capricorn Coast Mirror interested in investing in online advertising took a few cues from APN head of digital sales Nicole Le Maistre.

Ms Le Maistre discussed website design and customising online advertising to suit businesses, whether it involved advertising on themorningbulletin.com .au, to getting the attention of customers through Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Yelp.

"I am pleased that a number of clients stayed around and asked a lot of digital questions - largely around their own websites and Facebook pages," she said.

"It shows that they are heading in the right direction and that they see us as a credible media business to provide them advice."
