Businesses vandalised in Stanthorpe main street

VANDALS have gone on a destructive rampage in Stanthorpe, with a number of businesses being defaced in the main street.

A series of tags was spotted on the shopfronts of several businesses including the ANZ Bank, Granite Belt Pharmacy and the Central Hotel early yesterday morning.

The vandals also defaced the Stanthorpe Information Guide outside the post office.

Police have questioned a person in relation to the incidents.

In a separate incident, the Backpackers of Queensland facility has been damaged after three large rocks were thrown through the front windows.

Backpackers of Queensland manager Doug Lemon said the damage would cost about $3000 to fix.

Mr Lemon has managed the facility for eight years and said the vandal was most likely to have been staying at the venue.
