Busy Graham primed for season with Sharks

RUGBY LEAGUE: Wade Graham says a hectic pre-season that has taken in the Auckland Nines, the Indigenous All Stars camp and now England's World Cup Challenge will energise rather than leave him jaded for the start of the premiership.

By the time he gets off the plane after the Sharks left for England on Saturday night, Graham and teammate Jack Bird will have travelled around 20,000 kms in the space of little more than a week after spending last weekend in Auckland for the Nines before going straight into camp in Newcastle.

"It's been full-on, no question,” Graham said after starring for the Indigenous side in their easy win over the World All Stars.

"We've had the Auckland Nines and then we've had this week here in Newcastle and then it's off to England.

"But there are no complaints from me. I definitely enjoyed this week and I'm definitely looking forward to next week. It's just great have footy back. There is a real buzz around being out there playing again.”

Graham said the Sharks are taking their World Club Challenge clash against Super League champions Wigan next Sunday (EST) extremely seriously.

"From all reports, the boys have trained really hard all week leading up to going over there,”he said.

"Flanno (coach Shane Flanagan) will have a plan and we'll sit down as a group and get over there and try and win this thing.

"It's a great opportunity and one that you never know if it will come around again.

"The competition is so hard here and it's a big honour to go over there. It's our first one and if you look at someone like Gal, he's played for 15 or 16 years and has never had the chance to do it.

"We're all really looking forward to getting over there as a playing group and playing well and winning.”
