Busy time at the Warwick Golf Club with fun and play
FROM the serious to the not so serious, it is all happening at Warwick Golf Club.
For the first time, the club had a special golf day to celebrate the end of Jumpers and Jazz, with heaps of decorated buggies, clubs and players with scarves.
The club has already decided the special J and J golf day will be part of the festival each year.
Last Sunday, the only 27-hole event in the club year was held, attracting more than 30 players.
The Warwick Credit Union Canning Downs Tournament brought players from Warwick and surrounding areas, with Jay Roberts and Sam Hinze winning the gross events.
A successful Police Legacy Day was held in the past month to support the families of police officers. The event attracted 110 players, including a large contingent from Brisbane.
The Warwick Golf Club will hold its Ladies Open Day on September 6 . The Foursome Championships will be played over 36 holes on September 11 in conjunction with the Coe Cup Foursome and JD Rowland Foursome Championships.
A Family Golf Day is planned on Sunday, October 23, for current and new players alike.
The day is all about participation, with families able to play all day for just $5 per family. Clubs will be available to hire. More information from the pro shop on 46613664.
Sam a winner
SAM Hinze has proved yet again she is the most successful female golfer in the district.
She was one of the Warwick representatives at the recent Downs and South West Ladies Golf Championships at Goondiwindi.
Hinze was part of the winning foursome team and backed up to win the champion of champions, district open championship and district closed championship.
She scored 83 and 86 in the championship rounds to win her fourth title and her third in succession. Her three wins in succession was a first for the district.
