FORMER Warwick Daily News cadet and Rose City local Caitlyn Gribbin has been named a finalist for the 2014 Walkley Young Journalist of the Year Award for radio.

After winning last year's radio award for three stories including covering the Bundaberg floods, Caitlyn is continuing her success with the ABC after making the big move to Perth, WA last year.

This year, she has been named a finalist for her work titled "The Kununurra Midnight Prowlers", "Bushfire residents return home" and "Graziers turn to desperate measures".

The winner of each category will go in the running to be named the Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year and receive flights to the USA to undertake work experience with CNN and Twitter. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Sydney on June 25.
