Cambooya Rock tipped for Long Tan Cup
RACING: The Warwick Turf Club has attracted 65 nominations for the Warwick RSL Memorial Club Long Tan Cup day at Allman Park today.
There are five races, all sponsored by the Warwick RSL Memorial Club.
There is free admission for Warwick RSL club members to the races.
Warwick Turf Club past president Jim Costello has come up with some tips on the races.
Race 1, 1.30pm, Warwick RSL Memorial Club BenchMark 50 H'cap, 800m
THE tip is Cambooya Rock, especially as apprentice Nicholas Keal will claim 2kg to bring the weight back to 60kg. Cambooya Rock is a real good horse who is quick and will be up there.
The horse is one run back from a spell and will be fresh.
After a second at the Gold Coast, Whispering Wings is the tip for second and Coalbank Caviar has a good chance for third.
Tips: 1 Cambooya Rock, 2 Whispering Wings, 3 Coalbank Cavair.
Race 2, 2.09pm Warwick RSL Memorial Club Maiden Plate, 1100m
EX-Victorian horse La Rana Toro has been in form down south and will have his first run in Queensland.
The three-year-old gelding is training in Oakey by Bradley Hudson who specialises in shorter distances.
Royal Bouquet has reasonable Toowoomba form. Take your pick for third.
Tips: 1 La Rana Toro, 2 Royal Bouquet.
Race 3, 2.48pm Warwick RSL Memorial Club BenchMark 65 Hcap, 1200m
KARAHARAGA is the best bet of the day in race 3.
He is a consistent horse who never runs a bad race.
Karaharaga is trained in Gatton by Brenton Andrew, the son of Sel Andrew, who has won many races at Allman Park down the years.
Galway Town, trained by Kellie Monckton, should go well first up. Toowoomba horse Prouder is out of a top mare Proud and is the tip for third.
Tips: 1 Karaharaga, 2 Galway Town, 3 Prouder
Race 4, 3.28pm Warwick RSL Memorial Club Class B H'cap 1350m
TOP-weight Fusi Fox has form on the board.
The horse is trained at the Gold Coast and will be ridden by Cyril Small, a jockey famous for riding the great Vo Rogue.
Fusi Fox likes a bit more distance than 1350m but will be fresh after not racing for a month.
Wild Boys is trained by Paul Nolan jnr and has a couple of seconds at the distance. If you excuse his last run, he is a strong chance.
Tips: 1 Fusi Fox, 2 Wild Boys, 3 Akua
Race 5, 4.08pm Warwick RSL Memorial Club Long Tan Cup BenchMark 65 H'cap, 1500m
THE Ben Currie-trained Rockabella Boy is the tip.
He is back to 60kg with a claim by apprentice Nicholas Keal.
Miniver is a well-bred mare and is the tip for second.
In the last Warwick race meeting two weeks ago, Miniver was second and Flying Lucky third behind winner King Ludwig.
Tips: 1 Rockabella Boy, 2 Miniver, 3 Flying Lucky
