Camera at the traffic lights no cause for drivers’ alarm

RECENTLY a cherry picker at the Albion St and Fitzroy sts traffic lights may have attracted some attention from anxious drivers.

A Department of Transport and Main Roads spokesperson said the Tuesday morning sighting was not the installation of red light or speed cameras.

"Minor maintenance was recently carried out on the traffic monitoring camera at the intersection of Albion and Fitzroy sts," they said.

"This camera allows us to remotely view the intersection and monitor traffic movements from our Traffic Coordination Centre to help manage congestion and incidents.

"Unlike red light or speed cameras, this camera is not used to fine people or for traffic enforcement."

To report any road or traffic issues you can phone 131940 or visit highload.131940.qld.gov.au for road condition and closure updates.
