Cameras keep eye on crime
FRUSTRATED staff at the Warwick Indoor Recreation and Aquatic Centre (WIRAC) are warning vandals to stop their graffiti spree – and reminding them their movements are being watched by a fixed camera nearby.
WIRAC manager Don Warrener said there had been a couple of incidents in the last fortnight where offenders had vandalised a wall with graffiti.
“It’s unfortunate that people don’t have something better to do with their time,” he said.
The target area has been the southern wall, opposite Leslie Park. Mr Warrener said the matter had been referred to the police and investigations were under way.
“We warn to anyone who feels they will continue, that they will no doubt be caught,” he said.
“I would also remind them of the CCTV camera on the corner of Albert and Palmerin Sts.”
WIRAC staff have been quick to respond each time, having cleaned the graffiti themselves.
