Campbell has his first run in the V8s
MOTOR RACING: Matt Campbell came 20th in his first practice in his V8 Supercars debut at Sandown today.
For the first time, he is competing in the V8 Supercars and Porsche Carrera Cup on the same weekend.
The Sandown 500 is the first of three enduro races where Campbell will combine with Todd Kelly for the Nissan Motorsport team. His co-driver Kelly was out first in the Nissan and was 24th in practice.
Campbell's first run of the day was in tough conditions early in the afternoon and he completed 17 laps to be one of the highest for laps driven.
He was 20th in a field of 26 in session 1 for co-drivers.
In the Porsche Carrera Cup, Campbell goes into the Sandown round this weekend with the series lead from Ash Walsh and Steven Richards.
Two weeks ago, Campbell drove at grassroots level in the state championships at Morgan Park in a car he first drove as a schoolboy.
