Campers fold up shop to start a whole new adventure
FOR more than a decade Keith and Jenny Hartshorn have been the face of Mango Camping, but have decided the time is right to start their own adventure.
The family owned and operated business first opened in 2005, and after 11 years as the Grey Nomad destination of Warwick, the couple have decided to practice what they preach and take a well earned holiday.
"We definitely know where to go now," Mrs Hartshorn said.
"We've heard so many stories from customers of where to go and I've written some places down that we really want to go and see."
Mrs Hartshorn said she was touched by the reactions of customers to the news.
"I had one customer with tears in his eyes," she said.
"It's nice to know we will be missed."
The Hartshorn's will close the doors at the store on February 25 but will still sell camping equipment online through their website, www.mango-camping.com.au.
All outstanding layby and gift cards will still be honoured via the website.
Mr Hartshorn said closing the store will give him a chance to work on vintage caravans.
"I'm planning on doing some custom built teardrop crossover vans and retro vans for the vintage car market," he said.
"The home garage is a registered workshop where I can do steel manufacturing.
"We will see how the website goes and look at venturing into new stock."
The couple thanked the Southern Downs community and their casual employees for their support over the years.
