Campers hit the area

IT'S great to see more and more parents these days embracing an outdoor lifestyle, as evidenced by the huge number of campers in the Warwick area during the Easter long weekend.

In these cash-strapped times, a camping holiday can be an affordable alternative for the typical family to hotel accommodation and expensive indoor dining options at the major visitor destinations.

This is especially so for families based in metropolitan centres with limited access to safe bush locations.

But equally, with childhood obesity a real and pressing concern, it's time to get our kids off the couch and into the fresh air.

Not that there is anything wrong with quiet indoor time, but exercise is vital for our kids' development.

Many parents are also too scared to allow their kids to get dirty, whereas in reality it helps to boost their natural immune system.

With our scenic surrounds I can only see Warwick becoming more popular for campers, also a boost for our local economy.
