Racing called off after rain, but party still on

HORSES may not be running the Warwick Cup tomorrow but punters are still invited to join the party at Allman Park tomorrow.

The Warwick Turf Club announced about an hour ago that the Warwick Cup meeting had been abandoned due to the weather and state of the track.

"A further 10mm of rainfall has fallen since a QRIC stewards track inspection earlier today deeming the track unsafe for racing," a statement on the club's Facebook page read.

"However the club will still conduct a "phantom" betting meeting with all facilities available.

"RQ will work with the Warwick TC to facilitate the two feature races from the abandoned meeting - Warwick Cup and Warwick Newmarket - are rescheduled at a future race meeting."

The Turf Club is urging keen punters to still head to the track as festivities will still go ahead.

"The party will still go on...all VIP ticket holders are set to enjoy their day out in the Cassels Subaru Trackside Pavilion. Fashions, Bluebird catering, entertainment all still going ahead!"
