Cantwell steers Wheatvale to final

PAUL Cantwell almost single-handedly secured Wheatvale a grand-final spot in A-grade with 3-25 and 74 against Inglewood yesterday.

Batting first, Inglewood was 5-75 before Ted Callaghan and Jamien Smith added 54 for the sixth wicket.

Callaghan top scored with 29 in 165 and Cantwell was the best of the Wheatvale bowlers with 3-25 off 10 overs.

Wheatvale was 2-56 after 17 overs and won with two wickets in hand and seven overs to be bowled.

Cantwell opened the batting and was the only batsman to pass 20.

Three Inglewood bowlers took two wickets each.

In the reserve grade preliminary final, Sovereign Animals batted first to be all out for 139, Damien Canning top scoring with 62.

Dave Walker was the best of the bowlers with 3-7 off 2.4 overs.

Meateors were dismissed for 118, Tony Munro taking 6-20.
