Capsicum spray used on man allegedly concealing gun

A SUNSHINE Coast man will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court today charged with stealing and weapons offences.

Warwick police were alerted to a break and enter in Aratula just after 3am on Saturday where a man in a white commodore was said to have fled the scene.

The vehicle was intercepted on the New England Hwy towards Stanthorpe at about 4.30am, at which time a 19-year-old man is alleged to have produced a concealed firearm.

Police deployed capsicum spray and retreated until back up arrived.

The man complied with police orders to exit the vehicle and drop his weapon and was taken into police custody.

There were no injuries to the offender, police or any members of the public.
