Man watches black Mercedes Benz go up in flames

AN black Mercedes Benz has caught fire on Childers Rd while the driver was still inside.

Bundaberg Police Sergeant Mick Ward said the fire occured on Friday around 6.30pm when a 48-year-old male driver noticed smoke coming out of the vents of his car.

Sgt Ward said the driver pulled over to the side of the road.

"And then the vehicle caught well alight," he said.

He said the driver was able to make a safe exit from the burning car.

"QFRS (Queensland Fire and Rescue Service) attended and put the fire out, we attended and it turned out to be a non-suspicious electrical fire," Sgt Ward said.
