UPDATE 5.50pm: Crews have extinguished a car that caught alight on the Cunningham Highway this afternoon.

A spokeswoman from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said all occupants of the car had gotten out of the vehicle, which was engulfed in flames about 20km east of Inglewood.

Crews also put out a 50 square meter grass fire beside the road, which was ignited by the car.

The cause of the blaze was unknown.

Crews left the scene about 5.37pm.

INITIAL 5pm: Emergency crews are rushing to the scene of a car fire 20km east of Inglewood on the Cunningham Highway.

A spokeswoman from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said all occupants had escaped from the flaming vehicle.

It was known whether the vehicle was blocking the highway.
