Car search reveals drugs

A VISIT to the Rose City proved the undoing for three out-of-towners as their party mobile was searched to reveal a quantity of illegal drugs.

Kristen Lee Moriarty, from Sydney, and Ty Alexander Peters and Casey William Moreland, both from the Gold Coast, all pleaded guilty to drug charges at the Warwick Magistrates Court yesterday after their car was searched on February 12.

Magistrate Peter Smid said the car’s cache of drugs “must have been quite a party for the three of them”.

Moriarty was charged with possession of a dangerous drug (six grams of marijuana), was fined $200 and a conviction was recorded.

Peters was charged with two counts of dangerous drug possession (1.4g of methamphetamine and 1.9g of marijuana) and one count of possession of drug utensils.

He was ordered to pay $500 and given a six months good behaviour bond and was to attend a drug assessment and education sessions.

Moreland, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of drug possession and one count of possession of drug utensils (glass bong).

The boilermaker was fined $300 and no conviction was recorded.
