Car thief jailed after Granite Belt chase

A MAN who led police on a car chase through the Granite Belt in a stolen car earlier this month has been sentenced to jail.

Jade Beau Mangino pleaded guilty in the Charleville Magistrates Court to five counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, disqualified driving, failing to stop and possessind dangerous drugs.

The 31-year-old Dirranbandi stole the LandCruiser from south of the border and drove 570km before being spotted by police on the Granite Belt.

Despite an aerial and land search, Mangino evaded police in the Stanthorpe area and was believed to have headed west to the Gore area.

Mangino was sentenced to 18 months' jail. He will be eligible for parole on January 14, 2017.
