Caravan enthusiasts get new social club rolling
DUE to high success rates and a growing demand, a social caravan club based in Stanthorpe is due to be organised for Queensland.
This follows huge success of the 2015 State Caravan Rally held at the Stanthorpe Showgrounds.
Residents who attended the rally last year asked for a club but were unsure how to go about setting one up themselves.
Now, organisers are looking for interested people to help start the new club.
Clubs are formed by the people who will ultimately become the members and can be formed in whatever format they want.
For example, clubs can be dog friendly or have restrictions on pets.
They can be structured, unstructured, or with only just enough structure to hold it together.
The great part about these clubs is members get to set their own rules.
It is not where you come from but where you meet up.
Through the club, members will be provided with the opportunity to meet with like-minded people who love the freedom of caravan, motorhome or camper van life.
Generally clubs meet once a month for a few days over a weekend.
This means that people who work can also be a part of the club, instead of just those who no longer do.
For those in Stanthorpe interested in becoming a part of the caravan club, an information event is being held on Saturday, June 4 from 11am.
It is being held at Quart Pot Creek park near the information centre.
Head on down and join other interested enthusiasts for a sausage sizzle lunch.
The information day will provide plenty of opportunities to learn about and discuss starting a club, and meet other interested groups.
There will also be people available to answer questions about caravan clubs and how to start one.
