Caravans of the retro kind

THE grounds of the Leyburn Pub were transformed into a caravan park at the weekend for the Leyburn Sprints' first Retro Caravan Show-Off.

More than 20 retro caravans, many with matching retro cars, were on display behind the historic pub to the delight of crowds.

Among the vans was a colourful 1965 Viscount Duralvan, owned by retro caravan enthusiast Lisa Mora.

Ms Mora, who is the editor of a retro caravan magazine, said her involvement with the vans began five years ago.

"I have four retro caravans. Most of us don't stop at one," she said.

"People just love looking at them."

While Ms Mora bought her beloved 1965 Viscount in original condition four years ago, she had made some little additions to the van.

"I basically just pimped her up a little - or as I say, pinked her up," she said.
