Carlee takes long jump to worlds

CARLEE Beattie will fly the Warwick flag at the International Paralympic Committee World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar, on October 21-23.

While she was assured of selection, the full team was not officially announced to this week.

Beattie won silver in long jump at the London Paralympics in 2012 and has set a world record in the event.

After starring in Warwick in netball and hockey, she moved to Brisbane where she has followed a Paralympics dream.

If she wins a gold or silver, she will secure a quota spot for Australia in the long jump at next year's Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Australia won 30 medals in the world championships in Lyon, France, two years ago, to be fourth overall.

Beattie won silver in the worlds in Christchurch in 2011 and Lyon in 2013 so is a strong medal chance in Doha.

She also has a 100m bronze from Christchurch.
