Carnival champions remain undefeated
RUGBY LEAGUE: Wynnum remained undefeated to be named winners of the zone 5 under-43kg carnival in Warwick.
The carnival concluded this afternoon after six days of play.
Wynnum claimed seven wins to take out the top spot at the carnival.
The MacIntyre team, from the Goondiwindi Regional Council area, was the runner-up after claiming six victories.
Central Downs and Balonne-Barwon were equal third after winning four games each.
Warwick player Sam Wainwright achieved a personal victory after being named the best and fairest player at the carnival.
Hayden Maher, from Wynnum, was named player of the carnival.
The best back of the carnival was Nate Marsh (MacIntyre), while Samuel Gilmore (Central Downs) was named the best forward.
The Peter Cavanagh best conducted team award was given to MacIntyre.
Players were also selected to represent city and country teams, which went head-to-head this afternoon.
The city team was victorious, defeating the country team 28-10.
The carnival was hosted by Warwick and Southern Downs Junior Rugby League, with 136 players taking part.
Organisers from Warwick and Southern Downs Junior Rugby League thanked referees, officials and the senior rugby league club, the Warwick Cowboys, for hosting the carnival at Father Ranger Oval.
