Cars and karts ready to race on weekend
HORSEPOWER with Gerard Walsh
THIS weekend is another busy one on the horsepower front with events at Morgan Park Raceway and Sandy Creek Raceway.
There are super sprints at Morgan Park and then the Queensland Junior Top Guns in karting at Sandy Creek Raceway.
Both events will have more than 100 drivers.
It is interesting a karting driver rang from South Australia to express interest in coming to Warwick due to the $16,000 worth of prizes.
When it comes to karting, most of the prizes are items that can be used on the karts.
Bit the same with sports like polocrosse, riders often go away from a carnival with a bit of horse feed or supplement after being among the winners.
Cowboys rodeo
THE Warwick Cowboys Rodeo is coming up on October 7 but the rugby league club has a few things on its mind for a week or two - two premierships are in the wind.
Once the footy is over, all the focus will move to the annual rodeo.
Scott Keogh is running the rodeo side of the night. There will also be plenty of serious rodeo riders competing in early October.
Cup coming up
THE Warwick Credit Union Warwick Cup, scheduled for October 8, will be a TAB meeting.
The track at Allman Park looks like it will be in perfect condition for the cup.
It was impressive to see the thickness and greenness of the grass at the trots.
Warwick Rodeo
CAMPDRAFTING nominations will open in mid-September for the Warwick Rodeo and Campdraft. The committee has put a limit of 900 on the two major campdrafting events: They just can't fit any more in.
It's good to see covers being erected over two showgrounds stands.
