Cassar-Daley, Britt grab seven CMAA nominations each

TROY Cassar-Daley and Catherine Britt lead the nominations for this year's Country Music Awards of Australia.

The singers earned seven nominations each, including Album of the Year and Single of the Year, in Sydney this morning.

Britt's fifth studio album Always Never Enough is her most successful since her 2006 sophomore release Too Far Gone.

The 27-year-old said it was an honour to share the top nominations count with Daley, who has won a staggering 21 Golden Guitars to date.

Hot on their heels are husband-and-wife duo Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson, who received five nominations for their acclaimed album Wreck & Ruin.

Grafton sisters The McClymonts also earned five nominations for their album Two Worlds Collide.

Young singer Kristy Cox gasped in excitement for her first CMAA nominations for New Talent of the Year and Alternative Country Album of the Year.

The 41st Country Music Awards will be held in Tamworth on Australia Day.
