Casual council workers donate to SES

WARWICK and Stanthorpe's State Emergency Services have received a $150 donation each from Southern Downs Regional Council.

The money was raised by council staff participating in Casual for a Cause.

Mayor Peter Blundell said the SES was the fourth not-for-profit organisation to benefit from the council event.

"Council administration and library staff dressed down and made donations throughout November, and I'm very proud to be able to present our next very worthy recipients, Stanthorpe and Warwick SES with a staff donation," he said.

"Communities across the Southern Downs rely heavily on the important and vital assistance provided by the SES and its amazing volunteers, and this has been demonstrated all too recently with the extreme storm activity experienced across our region in the last few weeks."

Warwick SES local controller John Newley said the members of the Warwick SES Unit appreciated the support shown by council employees.
