Celebrations continue at Muster
AS the main weekend gets ready to roll at the 2011 Optus Gympie Music Muster the fans continue to stream through the gates at the Amamoor Creek State Forrest site.
Their pilgrimage to the picturesque location will be in aid of celebrating the event’s major milestone achievement, its 30th birthday in addition to the mega line-up of international and national artists confirmed to perform.
Main-stage headline acts kicked off for the first time ever on the Thursday night proving to be triumphant success with artists including Lee Kernaghan, James Reyne, the Sunny Cowgirls, Ross Wilson and Steve Forde all taking to the stage.
Still to come are Kasey Chambers, John Williamson, Montgomery Gentry, Adam Brand, Troy Cassar-Daley, Shane Nicholson, Catherine Britt, Boy & Bear and Ash Grundwald, to name just a few.
Country star Troy Cassar-Daley, along with Anthony Shiner, General Manager of Optus Country and Glenn Smith, Chairman of Gympie Music Muster Ltd, will kick the birthday celebrations into formal mode with a presentation of a large signed card, a 30th Birthday cake and motivating the strong crowd in singing happy birthday from the main stage tonight at 7:30pm.
Only midway through proceedings and running until this Sunday (28th August), the six day festival has already seen thousands of fans arrive and stake claim their campsite place in the forest location with Banjos, Banjos Gold and Budget camping sites now officially sold out.
But organisers have room for more with tickets still available at the gate and plenty of self-catered camping options on offer.
"The expectations and feedback from our artists and first time Muster-goers for our 30th Birthday year has been simply overwhelming. The Optus Gympie Music Muster is a world class music event that has stood the test of time and with the success that this year has been so far I look forward to the event growing and continuing for many years to come" said Vickii Cotter, Gympie Muster CEO said.
But music is not the only thing on offer in this tranquil setting. For those simply seeking an unforgettable life experience or simply a place to unwind, an opportunity to learn line dancing or an event that not only caters for children but provides the ultimate in baby sitting with their Kidz Klub, then the 2011 Optus Gympie Music Muster is where you need to be.
Whilst music makes up and takes up the days of the Optus Gympie Music Muster, it main passion remains fundraising and giving which has kept the event unique.
As Australia’s longest running not for profit music festival, the Muster has raised over $14 million for charities and community groups across Australia and has grown to become a nationally and internationally renowned event with fans travelling from across the country and the globe to take in the unforgettable experience.
Having started as an intimate affair back in 1982, there is no doubt that now in 2011 that event has grown into a major inclusion on the nation’s annual events calendar and has become as iconic as some of the artists that perform at it.
In 2011, international superstars, national icons, familiar faces and emerging stars are all set to take to the stage at the 2011 Optus Gympie Music Muster.
