Central Downs doing well in U35kg league carnival
RUGBY LEAGUE: Central Downs beat Western Downs 24-22 in yesterday morning's round 7 game in the under-35kg rugby league carnival at Platz Oval, Clifton.
Atticus Sullivan scored two tries, Joshua Collins and Eli Costello one each with Fletcher Tate-Roche, Yein Costello, Billy Pearson and Sullivan landing goals. Costello scored the last try to win the game.
Central Downs won a second game 24-22 when they beat Roma after Eli Costello scored a try as a hooter went. Sullivan kicked the conversion to win the game.
Eli Costello scored three tries and Clarence Walker one with Eli and Yein Costello, Billy Peardon and Sullivan landing goals.
Central Downs has seven wins from eight games. Wynnum maintained their unbeaten record beating South Burnett 32-18 and Cunnamulla 18-0 yesterday.
Macintyre won 22-0 against Balonne Barwon with Jake Murphy leading the way with two tries. Curtis Lambert and Fergus Elborne scored tries and all three kicked a goal.
So far in the carnival, Macintyre has two wins and a draw. They beat Cunnamulla 32-24 and drew 18-all with Western Downs.
Last night, barefoot bowls was scheduled at the Clifton Bowls Club. Today will herald the final round of the carnival and then selected teams from the west and east will play the last game.
