Central Downs going great guns in U35kg league

RUGBY LEAGUE: Hosts Central Downs have five wins from six games in the zone 5 under-35kg rugby league carnival at Clifton.

The first loss for Central Downs was 16-12 to Wynnum on Wednesday.

Central Downs can still end up on top if they win their final two games of the carnival and Wynnum, which has three games to go, suffers a loss.

The hosts play Roma and Western Downs on Thursday.

Coach Ian Brady said five-eighth Eli Costello from Collegians had been his best so far.

"Atticus Sullivan from Wattles is our biggest improver,” he said.

The players and officials enjoyed a games afternoon and movie night tonight and will head to the Clifton Bowls Club for barefoot bowls after Thursday's games.

The carnival, which also includes a team from Macintyre, ends Friday.
