RACING: The Warwick Turf Club entertained the CEO of Racing Queensland at yesterday's race meeting and he was suitably impressed with the day.

Ian Hall and his wife Lyndal were in town for the races after the CEO admitted on Saturday night he was a bit concerned after the weekend rain.

A combined tally of 53mm rain in the 36 hours before the races did not impact on the day.

"I was keen to get to Warwick to have a chat with people and see how country racing was going," he said.

"It was a fantastic day out and it was great to see people enjoying themselves.

"The track held up well after the rain,"

He said it was important racing provided entertainment to attract the crowds.

"We want groups to have their parties at the races rather than the pub. We are always looking at the opportunity to have more TAB meetings but the reality is they have to be shared around," Hall said.

Warwick Turf Club president Phil Grant said he was happy with the crowd.

"We are keen to have more TAB meetings on a Sunday," he said.
