Champions decided at netball finals

NETBALL: The YMCA Netball finals were played last Tuesday night, with two teams coming out on top.

First game of the night had UFCs in their first final performance take on Lyrebirds in the B-grade.

This game proved to be a fantastic game to watch for all the spectators that came to cheer on their teams.

UFCs were in the lead by the end of the first quarter but the more experienced Lyrebirds soon found their feet in the second with their shooters hitting the spot.

Tactical changes in the third quarter saw UFCs gain the upper hand, winning 37-27.

The second game of the evening featured the Pink Ladies taking on Devils in the A-grade.

Pink Ladies were the reigning leaders from last season and were naturally the team to beat.

The Devils came in as underdogs with a few players carrying injuries.

As expected, the game was tight from both teams right across the court with scores close going into half time.

Persistent defence at both ends was a highlight, making it harder for the shooters to score, but great shooting by both goal attacks kept their teams in the match.

In the end the Pink Ladies were too strong winning 33-23.
