Chance of first frost on the way for Southern Downs

THE sound of rain hitting the tin roof was one that had Warwickites begging for a sleep in yesterday morning.

But by mid-afternoon the dark clouds had been replaced by the warm sun.

We put a shout out on our Facebook page yesterday morning to get an idea of how much rain fell around the region.

Janine Gibson said she recorded 20mm at Killarney.

Wendy and Mark Krug said they had 17mm at Glengallan.

There was 13mm at Hendon according to Jody Barbierato and Janeen McGuire said there was 13mm at Sandy Camp.

Looking ahead to the next couple of days Warwick is set to see a cool snap.

Thursday and Friday mornings will be around the four degree mark with Saturday kicking off at a cool, one degree.

According to Weatherzone there is a high chance of Warwickites experiencing the very first frost of the season on Saturday.

If any green thumbs have any vegies or plants that may not be able to handle the ice, maybe it's time to think about covering them.
