Change in the wind brings cool relief, but not for long
WARWICK residents can enjoy some cool relief from the heat over the next few days after a "180 degree” change in the wind.
A maximum temperature of 31 has been predicted for today, a stark difference from the 38 degree day on Saturday.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Adam Blazak said a south-easterly change moved through the south-east of Queensland yesterday.
"That dropped the temperature away and knocked the humidity out of the air with the air moving in from the southern states rather than northern Queensland,” he said.
Mr Blazak said the strong winds were caused by a "big high” in the Great Australian Bight which combined with a low pressure system in the Tasman Sea.
"Because there's a large pressure difference between those two areas, the winds get squeezed and quite strong,” he said.
Cooler conditions are expected to persist tomorrow and into Wednesday, with maximums of 30 and 32 degrees respectively.
Mr Blazak said the humidity had also reduced.
"It's going to feel reasonably pleasant despite the thermometer is saying 30 degrees,” he said.
Towards the end of the week temperatures will start to creep up again.
On Thursday a top of 35 has been predicted before temperatures soar to 37 degrees on Friday and 38 on Saturday.
There is no rainfall on the horizon until a slight 10 per cent chance presents itself on Sunday.
