Chargers teams to Glyn Rees Cultural Exchange
RUGBY LEAGUE: Three Warwick and District Chargers team will play in the Glyn Rees City-Country Cultural Exchange at Coolum this weekend.
Chargers team will play a total of 11 games.
The U16 team will be coached by Aaron Fryer from Eastern Suburbs.
Goondiwindi official Peter Boucher will coach the U14 team and former Texas Terriers star Lee Schwenke is U13 coach.
In their first carnival games, the Warwick U13s will play South East Queensland White at 9am.
The U14 team will play SEQ White at 9.50am and the U16s will play SEQ Red at 12.20pm.
Clifton carnival
RUGBY league action will hot up at Platz Oval, Clifton, with the zone 5 under-35 kg carnival next week.
Teams will get together for the weigh-in on Sunday in the basketball court at the Clifton Recreation Reserve.
The participating teams are hosts Central Downs, Macintyre, Balonne Barwon, Western Downs, South Burnett, Wynnum, Roma, Charleville and Cunnamulla.
The official opening will be at 4.30pm Sunday as a forerunner to a one-hour athletics carnival.
Two rounds of games will be played each day from Monday to Thursday and then one round on Friday before the final game of the carnival between teams selected from the East and West carnival teams.
Barefoot bowls will be played on Thursday night at the Clifton Bowls Club.
Tenterfield week
ROSS Thorne will coach the Warwick and Southern Downs U43kg rugby league team at the zone 5 carnival at Tenterfield on July 3-7.
The Warwick and Southern Downs team has been training for the past two months under Thorne.
The team includes players from Collegians, Eastern Suburbs and Stanthorpe clubs.
Warwick Cowboys five-eighth Brad Morrish is trainer and Ian Carrie manager.
Weigh in is on July 2. Games will be played on the Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with an athletics carnival on the Wednesday.
Eight teams will play in the carnival. Central Downs and Macintyre will also field teams.
