Check out what's on at Killarney Show this weekend

OVER 1000 people burst through the gates at the Killarney Show last year and organisers are hoping to top that huge figure when the event returns to town this weekend.

Running from today until Sunday, the Killarney show boasts a jam-packed program.

Killarney Show Society president Mrs Hamilton said the show rodeo, to be held tonight, was a big draw card.

"It's a certified National Rodeo Association rodeo, sponsored by Black Toyota and will feature the Border Region's Buckle Series, a competition being held across the Allora, Killarney and Warwick Shows,” she said.

"And we'll have Storm Boy, the bull that is yet to be ridden, featuring on our program.

"One rider from Weipa came very close to staying on him at Allora, so hopefully someone can do it here.”

Mrs Hamilton said other popular events were the woodchop and the smash-up derby events.

Gates are open between 7am and midnight tonight and tomorrow night.

A local horse program starts at 8.30am on Sunday, followed by the final pony club events at 2pm.

Entry costs $10 for adults, $5 for high school students, $3 for primary school students and $5 for senior card holders.

Family packages are available.
