Chelsea back on top after easy Stoke success

FOOTBALL: Mohamed Salah, Frank Lampard and Willian score as Chelsea defeated Stoke 3-0 to return to the top of the English Premier League yesterday.

It might only be temporary as Liverpool had the chance to regain the lead with a win over West Ham overnight.

Also at the top, Manchester City eased past Southampton with a 4-1 home win to consolidate third spot.

At the bottom, Fulham stunned Aston Villa with a late header from Hugo Rodallega (pictured) sealing a 2-1 win at Villa Park to keep alive Fulham's slim hopes of avoiding relegation. The win moved Fulham from bottom to third from bottom.

Sunderland, which played Tottenham overnight, was last, just below Cardiff City which looks doomed after a dismal 3-0 home defeat by Crystal Palace. Norwich is just above the drop zone after a 1-0 defeat by West Brom, while Hull beat Swansea 1-0 and Manchester United won 4-0 at Newcastle.
