Chicks With Sticks claim victory on the pitch in super league

HOCKEY: The biggest fortnight of the year in Warwick hockey will finish on Saturday with the Mid Season Cup finals at Queens Park.

After the Queensland men's over 35 years championships two weekends ago and the Condamine Sports Club Super League last Saturday, the Mid Season Cup finals will be played this Saturday.

Wyverns and Saints will meet at 6pm in the men's game and the ladies game between Wyverns and Corinthians is at 7.30pm.

In the super league on Saturday, Chicks With Sticks beat She Devils 4-0 to win the ladies trophy.

Yazmin McWhinney scored a double with Rach Inmon and Kate Jordan scoring a goal each.

Chicks With Sticks led 1-0 at half-time.

Megan Neal and Sian Hegarty were strong in defence for the winners while Grace Parsons and her mother Jannita Oldham had strong games for She Devils.

In the men's super league game, Jame Ollerton did a lot of the lead-up work for his brother Jesse Ollerton to score the only goal in a 1-0 River Hawks win.

Jame was strong all game while Tom Mikkelsen had a top game in defence as always for winners River Hawks.

Matt Eastwell and Jake Reid were two of the best for the Warriors.

There will be regular senior fixtures this week with the Green game against Blue in mixed hockey tonight being played for the Mid Season Cup.

Both teams won in last week's fixtures.

Mixed club scores

Blue 4 (Tiarna King 3, Dylan Ready 1) d Black 3 (Nash Domjohn 2, Celene Keleher 1)

Green 5 ( Wayne Petersen 3, Gary Millard 1, Tom Rizzato 1) d Scots 3 (Oscar Stopforth 1, Molly Turnball 1, Heidi Robson 1)
