Children sing out on album for Jumpers and Jazz
ROSE City singer Bernadine Bradshaw has joined in the Jumpers and Jazz spirit, releasing a new album titled Children's Songs from Around the World, for the festival.
The album features the voices of local children on two of the tracks and Mrs Bradshaw, who is a music teacher at the School of Total Education, said it was good to involve local children.
"I ran a series of youth holiday singing workshops last year and I workshopped some songs with the children during the workshops," Mrs Bradshaw said.
"It's nice to have the general community on the record.
"Once they hear themselves it will give them quite a buzz."
As well as many different voices, the album features a variety of different languages.
"There are songs in 10 different languages," she said.
"I think it's great to listen to.
"I speak French but I did a lot of learning of the other songs. Some of them are songs written by other artists but I have used them before and then recorded my own version."
Mrs Bradshaw said the children's style of music was a nice change during Jumpers and Jazz.
"It's nice to have children's music on the (Jumpers and Jazz) program," Mrs Bradshaw said.
"It's a great opportunity to share the music with children; jazz is generally more an adult style of music.
"The album has a lot of atmospheric tunes on it; I've used them with hundreds of children before so I know they work."
