THE recent cold snap sent Warwick residents into a state of confusion, as slippers and scarves came out for the first week of summer.

The thermometer has gone as low as 11.6C since the beginning of December, with the highest recorded temperature 26.1C.

After a dry November, Queensland is expecting a wet month, with heavy rain forecast for most areas of the state.

Warwick is set to see some clear skies today with the chance of a shower or storm this afternoon.

Tomorrow should be cloudy and thunderstorms have been predicted for the weekend.

It is not looking too good for school students as they begin their holidays with a splash.

Most were hoping to kick off the holidays with a sunny start, but that has not been the case so far.

Eight-year-old Jazmin Ward stocked up on her favourite books and movies at the Warwick Library yesterday, preparing for the wet days ahead.

Jazmin and her sister have swimming training over the holidays and said she was pleased the WIRAC pool was sheltered.

"We have two weeks of swimming over the holidays and if it's not raining I can play outside with my dog, Lollie," she said.

"And if it doesn't rain we are going to go and visit my Aunty."

Meteorologist at the Bureau of Meteorology Pradeep Singh said Warwick received around 11.4mm of rainfall yesterday.
