Stars shine bright in Allora's Christmas carols

THE stars in the sky and on the stage shone brightly for Allora's first Creekside Carols under the Stars at Dalrymple Park on Saturday night.

Local ladies Sarah Turner, Stacey Turner and Greta Barton, and Andrew Westerman from the Allora Rotary Club were responsible for organising the Allora Christmas festivities, and offering a full Christmas carols program for the community to enjoy for the first time.

Miss Turner said she was pleased with the response from not only Allora residents but also those in surrounding districts.

"Despite the threat of storms, we had over 500 people attend the event," she said.

"We are so grateful to the Southern Downs Regional Council for the grant which allowed us to stage the event, local businesses and all the performers who contributed to the night's success."

Miss Turner said months of planning and practice paid off as the night flowed smoothly and showcased the talent of many local performers, providing a laidback night of entertainment.

The event also boasted more than 20 market stalls, including food vendors and artisans, adding to the festive atmosphere enjoyed by the whole family.

Rides on the mini fire truck were a huge hit with the kids, but the highlight was when Santa arrived.
