Horse racing at Warwick Turf Club on cards for Christmas

HORSE RACING: Warwick Turf Club kick starts a busy weekend of racing on the Southern Downs when it hosts a seven-race TAB program at Allman Park today.

Racing continues in the region tomorrow when the Texas Jockey Club steps up for its annual cup-day meeting.

The five-race Texas card is highlighted by the $12,000 Texas Cup (1200m) which has drawn a class eight-horse field headed by Smooth Talker for Toowoomba trainer Ducky Baker.

His opposition includes Writtenintherain and Jam Tin who are both looking to complete winning hat-tricks.

At Allman Park this afternoon Street Fever looks set to carry plenty of support when he shoots for successive victories for Toowoomba trainer Ben Currie. Street Fever charged back into the winner's stall last time out with a three-length Class 3 Plate (1400m) victory over Hurricane Cassie at Bunya Park.

The Street Sense gelding lines up in this afternoon's Hahn Super Dry 3.5 Plate (1500m) where he'll be ridden by 2kg claimer Josh Oliver.

Hardest for Street Fever to beat looks to include Kamiri Lad who resumed two weeks ago with a Clifford Park Class 1 win over 1300 metres for trainer Michael Nolan.

The Christmas Party Race Day invites spectators to bring their pop-up marquee and set up on the lawn at the racecourse.

Warwick trainer Garry Schwenke's horse Tillzale and jockey Damion McIntosh will race in the first of the day at 12.53pm.

When: Today, gates open at 11am.

Where: Allman Park

Cost: Free entry
