Christmas spirit fills the air for Carols
THERE was no silent night on Friday, as Christmas music and excitement filled the air as the community joined together for the annual Carols by Candlelight celebration.
Organising committee member Greg Thouard said it was a great night out.
"The weather was terrific and the crowds came out and enjoyed a night of carols music,” Mr Thouard said.
"Great choir, great band and great night. It's a great family night out.”
Numbers were high on the night, with approximately 500 people visiting the park.
A visit from Santa Claus proved to be a favourite on the night, with 150 children swarming in excitement to meet the jolly man in red as he was brought out by the pride of Stanthorpe Lions.
Organising committee members Jenel Hunt, Aaron Buchanan, Samantha Wantling, Jenny Sherrin and Greg Thouard, were all happy with the final result.
"We're all pretty ecstatic about the night,” Mr Thouard said.
The carols also acted as a fundraiser for the Stanthorpe Scouts who collected donations for the programs.
