City Jetset team takes out awards
IT'S BEEN a tough few years for the Queensland tourism industry, with natural disasters and economic turmoil negatively affecting many businesses.
But an Ipswich travel agency is bucking the trend, taking out multiple awards at Jetset's recent Queensland state awards night.
After 20 years in the industry, Jetset Travel Ipswich manager Sharon Jones has seen plenty of tough times, but says her customers are a resilient bunch.
“We found out during the floods that people value family, friends and good times.
“People that didn't have anything still wanted to go away with their family,” she said.
“It was kind of a weird thing to have people coming in who didn't have a house, but said they were still going away with their family because it was important.”
A soaring Australian dollar has also encouraged travellers, with many choosing to head overseas to get more bang for their buck.
