Claim girls lured into sex trade

AN IPSWICH mother accused of luring intellectually impaired girls into prostitution had her case mentioned at an Ipswich court yesterday.

The 30-year-old Collingwood Park woman has been charged with 86 offences of indecent treatment and procuring prostitution of children.

The woman was arrested following several weeks of police investigations on November 25 along with two men, who have also been charged in relation to the alleged crimes.

A 42-year-old man has been charged with two counts of procuring prostitution, and producing and possessing dangerous drugs.

A 40-year-old man has been charged with carnal knowledge of a child under 16 and producing and possessing dangerous drugs.

All three defendants were represented by defence lawyers at Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday.

The woman has been in custody since her arrest and has not applied for bail, but the two men were granted bail after they were arrested.

Their case was adjourned so the defence could obtain a full brief of evidence and it will next be mentioned on April 4.
